The College
London College of Music Exams is one of the longest leading-established exam boards for the creative arts in the UK and strives for inclusivity and equality in line with the UWL mission.
LCME offer Music examinations in Music, and in Drama and Communication which are held at centres worldwide as well our Digital platform that offers both recorded and live online exams (coming shortly). Our qualifications are unique in the graded exam sector in being awarded by a university.
The exams portfolio covers a wide range of syllabuses with new developments being considered to broaden the offer in the future. UWL is committed to LCME and will continue to invest in opportunities to improve the quality of the experience for staff and candidates of LCME.
The Role
As Chief Examiner for Drama, you will oversee the selection, training, and development of Drama examiners, ensuring the smooth and effective delivery of face-to-face and digital exams. You will be responsible for maintaining assessment consistency, upholding regulatory standards, and overseeing examiner moderation and standardisation.
A key member of the LCME management team, you will contribute to syllabus development and the promotion of Drama and Communication qualifications around with world. You will also act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for exam appeals and enquiries.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assessment processes to ensure consistency and fairness and seamless exam delivery.
- Manage examiner recruitment, training, moderation, and standardisation to uphold LCME and regulatory standards.
- Handle examiner queries and manage the appeals and enquiries process.
- Contribute to syllabus and publication development.
The Person
We are looking for a highly experienced drama professional with a strong background across assessment, product development and management. You should have:
- Extensive experience in Drama education, assessment and performance at various educational levels.
- A deep understanding of all modes and styles of communicative styles.
- Proven experience in training, moderation, and management.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- The ability to uphold consistency and high standards in assessment.
