The College

London College of Music Examinations (LCME) is a university-owned, inclusive board for performance exams. Established in 1887, we offer globally recognised qualifications and awards in music, drama, communications, and creative media. As part of the University of West London, LCME combines traditional excellence with modern innovation in creative arts assessment.

This position offers the unique opportunity to maintain critical examination operations, ensure regulatory compliance for creative arts qualifications, and shape the future of LCME's data management capabilities while supporting our global network of examination centres and creative arts educators.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Database Manager to oversee our legacy database environment while leading a comprehensive system replacement project over the next two years. This role is critical to supporting LCME's mission as a globally recognised creative arts examination board, managing examination data, candidate records, and centre information across our international network. The position requires expertise in problem-solving with older technology platforms, regulatory compliance including Ofqual statutory returns for creative arts qualifications, GDPR implementation, and excellent customer service skills.

The Person

The ideal candidate will have substantial database administration experience, advanced Excel and PowerBI proficiency, and a strong understanding of GDPR compliance, particularly for international data transfers. They should be a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills, capable of supporting diverse stakeholders including examination centres, teachers, and regulatory bodies worldwide. Experience with legacy systems management, statutory reporting (preferably Ofqual), and project management of large-scale database migrations is essential. A background in creative arts education or examination boards would be highly advantageous, along with the ability to work effectively under pressure during peak examination periods while maintaining our reputation as the "friendly exam board." This role requires someone who thrives in a small, dedicated team environment and is passionate about leveraging data and technology to enhance the examination experience for candidates and centres globally.
