This ambitious 30-month project is part of AB5's strategic vision to drive its transformation to a high-tech innovator, developer and provider of advanced security measures. The project will integrate and advance the technologies of AB5’s existing portfolios, develop and commercialise an app converter with advanced security measures, powered by AI. It will speed up the transfer of websites to mobile platforms, in a secure, trusted way.  

About the Role 

The successful applicant will undertake research and development to develop and commercialise apps conversion software with cutting-edge security measures. This will involve developing the tool by means of information security technologies, artificial intelligence, web optimisation, and computer automation.  

Main Duties / Responsibilities 

- Perform research and collect data in the specified area to a high level of competency and quality 

- Analyse and interpret data generated from all aspects of the project 

- Use creative approach to solving R&D problems  

- Develop an apps conversion tool as specified in the project plan 

- Disseminate research findings to relevant audience  

- Communicate with other team members and company staff  

- Undertake management/administration/reporting arising from research 

- Contribute to enterprise and business development and/or public engagement activities of benefit to the Company or University, often under supervision of a senior member 

- Work on multiple projects simultaneously  

You will be expected to continue your personal and professional development throughout the project, acquiring new transferable skills that will enhance your employability, and a budget of £2,195 is available to support this training.

• Good background in programming, such as C/C++, Java, etc.;
• Good understanding of relevant frameworks/ libraries;
• Experience in dataset management;
• Experience with the technologies used to build mobile applications;
• Experience of software design and software engineering;
• Some knowledge of mobile security, computer automation, artificial intelligence and optimisation techniques.

Personal Attributes 

• Ability to work both individually and as part of a team; 

• Self-motivation; 

• Excellent project management skills and verbal and written communication skills. 

Qualifications required 

• At least a 2:1 Honours degree in Computer Science or related area. 

• A-level Maths at A/B grade 

• An MSc degree is desirable 

• Excellent verbal and written English language skills.

This is a Fixed Term Post to end in March 2023.
