London College of Music is placed within the University of West London as a leading modern university specialising in the education and development of exceptional creative, business and service professionals. London College of Music is the largest specialist music and performing arts institution in the UK, delivering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from BA and BMus through to PhD and DMus.  Based at the Ealing campus, the London College of Music boasts exceptional facilities for performance and studio technology.  We are looking to appoint a Lecturer in Music Technology.

The successful candidate will lead, develop and teach modules within the field of music technology including subjects relating to recording, production, software training and working with music performers in many disciplines. In addition, they will contribute to the overall course development.

The post holder will be required to follow an agreed research brief together with teaching duties appropriate to the field within the department, contribute to the administration, development and delivery of the course and be expected to develop links with the professional sector in order to enhance potential employment opportunities for graduates of the degree programme.  

We are looking for a recognised and talented practitioner and researcher within the field who possesses:

  • Relevant teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, ideally also including experience of supervising at doctoral level.
  • A global perspective on the music technology and/or production and recording and be aware of current digital technology in support the curriculum.
  • Knowledge and expertise regarding the particular demands of music technology and/or production within the current industry and be in a position to assist each student to reach their own potential.

To be responsible for the delivery and development of a specific discipline within the curriculum of undergraduate courses in music technology.

To lead in a specialist discipline and champion the continued development and expansion of this area within London College of Music

To contribute to the successful delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate courses and units of teaching as member of a teaching team.

To support Open Day activities and be part of the recruitment processes throughout the academic year and relevant assessment procedures.

Lead modules and courses, as appropriate to your expertise.

To be responsible for the management of the assessment, curriculum and negotiate with Examinations Office as to the timing of these events. 

To oversee and support research within the curriculum area of music technology, as well as seek out links for potential research partnerships

To use existing links and develop new ones with the industry in order to enhance the potential employment of graduates.
