The London College of Music is placed within the University of West London as a leading modern university specialising in the education and development of exceptional creative, business and service professionals. London College of Music is the largest specialist music and performing arts institution in the UK, delivering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees from BA and BMus through to PhD and DMus.  Based at the Ealing campus, the London College of Music boasts exceptional facilities for performance and studio technology. 

We are looking to appoint a Stage Management Technician. The role will be situated within LCM’s theatre tech team, and will work closely with the Technical Manager, Lighting Designer and Sound Designer, as well as any external creative team members, such as directors, choreographers and set and costume designers.

The successful candidate will provide stage management support to a range of LCM productions and events, from a variety of theatre performances, to classical and pop concerts.

The post holder will be responsible for all aspects of production stage management, including the following duties:

  • Mark-ups of rehearsal rooms
  • Procurement/fabrication of props for theatre productions
  • Assisting with construction of theatre sets and stages
  • Efficient running of technical rehearsals
  • Communication with FOH and technical teams during productions.
  • Management of LCM’s prop store.
  • Setup and operation of basic lighting, sound and AV systems.
  • Ensuring that all backstage and onstage activities comply with the university’s health and safety policies.

We are looking for a passionate and talented practitioner within the field who possesses:

  • Excellent communication, organisation and planning skills.
  • A current and extensive knowledge of stage management practices for live events, in particular in the field of theatre productions.
  • Experience of constructing stages and theatre sets as part of the larger production team, including good working knowledge of rigging and working at height.
  • Excellent working knowledge of health and safety in the live events industry.
  • Experience setting up and operating basic Lighting, Sound and AV systems.

Please be advised that it is expected that appointment within a grade will normally be at the minimum point.
