School of Pharmacy
Founded in 2026 the School of Pharmacy's vision is to be a contemporary and high performing School with excellence in education, professional credibility, strong student outcomes, and a clear external identity.
The Role
The University of West London is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Practice Learning Lead in Pharmacy to play a central role in the development of its new School of Pharmacy. Working closely with the Head of Pharmacy, the University’s central placements team, course leadership and external practice partners, this is an important appointment for a pharmacist with a strong understanding of practice education and a clear commitment to high quality experiential learning. The role offers an excellent opportunity to help establish the systems, partnerships and quality processes that will underpin a successful and professionally credible pharmacy programme from the outset
The Person
This post will appeal to an individual who is energised by the practical work of building and sustaining placement capacity across a diverse regional health economy. The successful candidate will lead the development, coordination and quality assurance of pharmacy placements and workplace-based learning, helping to ensure that students benefit from well organised, well supported and educationally robust practice experiences. They will work across community pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, primary care and other relevant sectors, identifying opportunities for growth, supporting placement providers, and ensuring that learning environments meet General Pharmaceutical Council and University expectations.
Beyond placement coordination, the Practice Learning Lead will make a substantial contribution to the wider student experience by supporting practice supervisors and tutors, preparing students for professional practice, and helping academic colleagues and partners respond to complex placement issues with consistency and care. The postholder will also have an important role in quality assurance, governance and accreditation readiness, contributing to evidence gathering, site engagement, action planning and the continuous improvement of experiential learning across the School. In this respect, the role is both operational and strategic, combining day to day leadership with the opportunity to shape the long term quality and resilience of the practice learning portfolio.
We are therefore looking for a candidate with professional credibility, strong organisational ability and the interpersonal skills to work effectively across institutional and sector boundaries. This is an excellent opportunity for a registered pharmacist with experience in learner support and supervision to join UWL at a formative stage and to help build a modern, inclusive and high performing School of Pharmacy with strong external partnerships and a clear commitment to educational excellence.
