The College

The College of Nursing, Midwifery and Healthcare (CNMH) is the largest School in UWL and a major provider of pre-registration and post-qualifying nursing, midwifery, paramedic, ODP, public health and apprenticeship education in London and Berkshire (undergraduate to doctoral). 

The Role 

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our established team, as a lecturer Adult – Acute and Critical Care. The role will involve delivery of modules in this specialism alongside and with support from the Senior Lecturer in Adult – Acute and Critical Care. The modules are delivered across our campuses in West London (Brentford) and Reading (Berkshire). The postholder will also contribute to the development, management and delivery of modules relating to the adult that is acutely or critically ill. 

This post is available as a permanent post part time 0.6 WTE or as a secondment opportunity. Application will be via the UWL jobs portal. The postholder will:

  • Develop high quality teaching and learning materials to support the delivery of above the modules and courses.
  • Deliver innovative teaching, learning and assessment strategies that enhance the student learning experience. 
  • Provide support to students undertaking modules and courses within the College of Nursing Midwifery and Healthcare and to students/mentors in clinical environments.
  • As a member of the academic team, the post holder will assist in the development of the professional, academic, research and scholarly profile of healthcare disciplines in CNMH.
  • Support engagement with partner Trusts and other stakeholders, in relation to Adult, acute and critical care modules.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring one’s own academic and professional development within the field of nursing and health care is maintained.
  • Carry out all necessary administrative responsibilities and participate fully in quality assurance processes within the University.
  • As a member of the academic team, assist in the development of the professional, academic, research and scholarly profile within CNMH. 
  • In addition to the above areas of responsibility the post-holder maybe required to undertake any other reasonable duties relating to the broad scope of the position, commensurate with the post, and in support of the University.

The Person

The successful candidate will have advanced practice knowledge and clinical experience in the specialist area of adult clinical practice, within a UK context. They will have a minimum of a degree qualification in Advanced Clinical Practice and a range of experience of teaching and assessing students. 

Those applicants who currently do not hold a formal teaching qualification will be expected to undertake this upon appointment. 

Candidates should demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills to work collaboratively with students, other academics, clinical practitioners, and with our support and technical staff. 

Candidates must hold current registration with the NMC or HCPC.
