Student Advisor (Funding)

Salary:   £32,741 to £37,557 per annum

The Student Advice team is part of Student Services and aims to deliver student centred advice and guidance to student on a range of funding, financial and housing matters in a timely manner.  

The post holder will undertake casework, and provide support and guidance to students and staff in respect of a range of practical advice matters, including finance and funding regulations.  There are dedicated members of the Team for immigration and Tier 4 matters, the post holder will receive basic training in immigration and tier 4 student visa.  

The post holder is expected to contribute to the provision of a professional and specialist advice and guidance service to all students, to encourage their academic progress and student retention. This appointment requires a flexible approach to working hours as occasional weekend (Open Days – 6/7 per years) and evening cover is required on a rota basis. 

A Student Advisor who is self-motivated, proactive, organised and has proven ability to work effectively with conflicting priorities and short timescales.

You should have excellent interpersonal, communication, advocacy and customer service skills with proven case work experience and the ability to work closely with students and staff alike.  Experience of working in higher education is essential.

You must also have excellent IT skills, working with IT systems to record and report on a wide range of confidential matters within Student Services. A flexible approach to work is essential for this role.

An enhanced DBS Certificate is required for this post (to be undertaken upon appointment).
